Recycling Dog Food Cans

What do you do with Mighty Dog dog food Cans?
My little dog Joey is 16 years old and is losing his teeth, so we had to start a new feeding
system for him. After going through quite a few different dog foods he settled on Mighty Dog.
They are a perfect size and I couldn't throw them away.
But what should I do with them?
Here is my solution
First clean the dog cans and be careful of the sharp tip on the side where it opens
I learned the hard way.
Get some floral marbles, glue gun and  cans ready and glue the marbles to the bottom
of the can.

Now you need some polyfill, fabric scraps and rubber bands.

Stuff the polyfill in to the square fabric and use a rubber band to hold the bottom corners together

Cut the excess material off and hot glue the bottom into the can.
Now just get your trim, buttons and charms and

Handmade flowers and Angel Pins

Wonderful Gift items

I will have some of these available for purchase in my
Artfire shop

  1. Mighty Dog was the favorite of our dog too. It's the best -- if smell is any indication!

Those things are very cute, but I'm not sure what they are for.

  2. Oooh...such a creative idea!!!
    Thank you for sharing :)

  3. What a wonderful idea! You can't tell they started off as dog food cans. =) Thanks for sharing this idea.

  4. Old dogs are precious creatures. I see you are coddling yours and that is just as it should be. Great ideas and a wonderful post.

  5. Cute pincushions! What a great way to upcycle those dog food cans!

  6. What a great idea. This is something that I don't think anyone would have thought of.

  7. Great idea to use small pet food cans as the base for your very cool pincushions. Smart of you to add the weight to make these really functional. Nice work!

  8. Such a great idea - recycling dog food cans into fun pin cushions! Belly rubs to Joey from our Seamus (:

  9. That's a genius idea! The result is eco-friendly useful cushion pins! And pretty, I may add!

  10. Great idea and so many different variations!
